“If I could rate this course 10 stars I would. Andy is very knowledgeable about the topic, and the attention & adherence to safety above all else is exceptional! As an absolute first time gun holder & shooter, I felt safe with him from the beginning. He is patient and guides you at your level of comfort. He explains all of the drills and gradually increases the level of difficulty throughout the training session. I cannot recommend Trigger Press Training enough. You won me over & I will most definitely be back for more!”
“We had such an amazing experience with Andy yesterday at our handgun fundamentals training session. There was a group of four friends all women with very little to no experience shooting. By the end of the training sessions we were actually doing drills where we were moving while shooting and reloading while moving as well. Andy was so patient and really great at meeting each of us at our own level of understanding while still including everyone in every single drill. The best part is the safety precautions he takes. I now feel so confident in handling a firearm knowing exactly how to keep myself and my loved ones safe at all times. I already have a few different friend groups in mind to bring back and take the class again. I recommend anyone who is considering purchasing a firearm, curious about the correct way to operate a firearm safely or just want to have some fun on the range contact Andy!”
“This is a definite recommendation. Couldn’t have asked for a better instructor than Andy. Patient and incredibly knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back. ”
“Andy is a great instructor, very informative, and excellent teacher with the firearms training. I am a beginner with firearms and felt confident after one session with handling a firearm. I highly recommend trigger press for those who want to learn how to shoot and operate a firearm. Andy took me through many different drills which helped me become more comfortable with the gun in my hands.”
“I had two very important, and highly stressful, qualifications that I needed to prepare for. I had taken a group training in the past with Andy and immediately sought his expertise in two private sessions. Over the course of the sessions, Andy assessed my skills and identified areas of strength and weakness. He was able to articulate adjustments that I could immediately put into practice with observable results. I was assigned “homework” on trigger presses, body mechanics/stance, and even practicing my controlled breathing. I am proud to say that with Andy’s expert training and coaching skills, I passed both qualifications with flying colors! Andy empowers his students by providing expert training in a safe and respectful environment for all skill levels, and demonstrates an earnest desire to help them grow in confidence, which itself, is an important aspect of gun ownership”
“Andy is absolutely amazing! He trains in a way that is both safe and clear. After just a few minutes I knew my family and I were in good hands. He was extremely thorough with his instructions. I went from being tentative with a handgun to comfortable in a matter of a couple of hours. I will definitely be signing up for the intermediate training. I can’t stress enough how excellent an instructor Andy is and genuinely a really good guy. I look forward to training again with him soon.”
“Highly recommend Any and TriggerPress Firearms Training. Took the Intermediate class last weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. You start off slow with safety and some fundamentals, which is always good and progress into more technical skills from there. He took the time to make sure you understand whatever the task at hand is and answer questions as best he can. I went into the class wanting to learn shooting from non static positions and learned that and a whole lot more. He teaches different techniques of doing things which actually made me more proficient. We also worked on some weak had drills which was much needed. There is always room for growth. All in all it was a great experience and I can’t wait to take the advanced course and grow even more. Thanks again Andy!”
“Great class with a truly knowledgeable instructor. I had very little experience with firearms when I took the Handgun Fundamentals class. Andy did a great job teaching me the fundamentals of firearm safety and operation. I now feel confident and competent when handling and using my handgun. Andy is very professional and detail minded; he teaches with a sincere interest in his students. I would recommend this class to anyone interested firearm handling and operations. Thanks to Andy and TriggerPress Training!”
“As a woman of a certain age that has had little to no experience with firearms, Andy did a great job teaching me the fundamentals of firearm safety. Andy gave me the tools to become more confident and comfortable handling my gun. He was very patient with my multitude of questions and explained everything in terms that I could relate to and understand. I look forward to attending more of Andy’s classes and gaining even more knowledge and confidence handling various firearms.”
“Andy’s Handgun Fundamentals class is phenomenal! His dedication to ensuring clear, concise, and effective communication of firearm safety and application is more than apparent. I would recommend this course to anyone who is even remotely interested in firearms and wants to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to handle them. You will come away with a renewed sense of respect for firearms and the purpose they serve.”
“I had my firearm training a week ago and it was a great experience. Andy was a true professional from beginning to end. He explained clearly what I needed for my training day and always promptly answering my emails. On the shooting range he explained everything clearly and very patiently. The necessary repetition for learning was always there. He helped me understand all the steps in handling a gun safely. The shooting practice and the amount of ammunition we used throughout the practice, whether close up or farther back cemented in my mind all the correct procedures and positions to use.I highly recommend this training for anyone, any age. It sure helped me feel more empowered and confident.”
“Andy is AMAZING! I had little to no experience shooting (only have shot at the range once), but wanted to become proficient in handgun handling. I can wholeheartedly say that after taking TriggerPress’ Handgun Fundamentals course, I am confident in my knowledge and handling of firearms! Andy is so kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. From the beginning, I felt very comfortable and knew that I was in the hands of an expert. The course has a diverse range of activities that made the experience educational and very engaging. I was truly blown away by the thoroughness of the course and Andy’s training. Every minute was packed full of information, and the value that I received was incredible! Everything was done with excellence, and you can tell take Andy genuinely loves teaching firearm handling and safety. Andy’s instruction turned this handgun noob into a pretty sharp and safe shooter! I am so excited to have found Trigger Press training and will be continuing my training and education with Andy!”
“Target shooting was a favorite hobby of mine and my dad’s and I haven’t gone since he died in 2015. Taking this Handgun Fundamentals Course through @andy_triggerpress was the best way to break the ice. This course was a fun and practical way to learn safety and functionality and I not only feel comfortable but confident in my ability to handle my gun. As it has been years since I’ve shot, I was, understandably, a little anxious but Andy was patient, kind, and supportive as I slowly remembered the feel. Andy’s training teaches the technique of loading, unloading, and reloading, consistent safety checks, posture and stance stability, accuracy in aim, and tactical skills. The obstacles were my favorite part!! I sincerely had the best time and it was such a great way to remember my dad and honor his memory. I cannot recommend this training enough and I look forward to taking the intermediate course. ”
“I highly recommended Trigger Press Training. Andy was amazing! You worked hard the whole class, he told you what to do and demonstrated everything. Safety is his top priority. There was actually another class going on near us and those participants were constantly watching our class. We learned a ton, the drills he put us through were meaningful and fun. I will continue to come back to Andy for more training in the future. I cannot imagine a better class, Andy is a true professional!”
“I’m so grateful my family has been able to learn from Andy. We all feel a lot more comfortable and safe handling a firearm and being able to think about applying these skills to real-world self defense situations. The class was a great balance of information and hands-on practice above and beyond the other beginner’s classes I’ve been to. I also truly appreciate Andy’s depth of knowledge and experience and the low-stress, positive, fun way he teaches. As a nurse and CA naturalist I was happy to see the importance Andy puts on keeping people safe in his class and with COVID precautions and how he respects the local wildlife that might show up on the range. We had an awesome time and will definitely be signing up for more instruction. If Andy’s still teaching by the time my kid is old enough to learn we’ll sign him up for a class too! ”
“Thank you so much for all of your help at our recent handgun fundamentals training! We so appreciated your taking time to answer whatever questions we may have had and to address them in an in-depth way. Your ability to give clear, concise instruction along with the necessary critique, all the while balancing it with encouragement and humor, was sincerely appreciated.Thank you for making our training interesting as well as a lot of fun. Looking forward to training with you again the future! Many thanks.”
“I highly recommend this class to anyone, especially women, to feel comfortable and able to handle a firearm. Andy was amazing! He was calm, patient and explained things in a way that was easy to understand. I plan to take the intermediate course next. I am so glad I took this class I would highly recommend bringing lots of water and a hat, sunscreen and bug spray (just for the morning). Up in the canyon the sun gets pretty intense but as long as your face is covered and your hydrated it’s not too bad. This was a great experience though. Thank you so much Andy.”
“Truly I loved his class. The dry runs, walking with water. It was low stress very, informative, and real-world drills that will pay dividends when it comes to the fight. His explanations and reasoning for what he does is on point.”
“Thank you so much for your patience and guidance during our first gun training class. We found the 4 hour class to fly by as we were excited to learn about how to safely respect a gun and then how to shoot it correctly.Great stuff, and I would recommend you and your class for anyone wanting to learn how to safely use a gun or want to improve shooting skills. Again my wife and I thank you! ”
“This was my first formal firearm training class and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor or course. I’ve always had trouble with anticipating recoil when shooting and Andy’s technique of helping with the trigger press to avoid anticipating recoil really helped. I would have loved to learn single-hand shooting or off-hand shooting from a home defense perspective, but maybe this is included in the intermediate class. I still feel I got a lot of value out of the beginner class and am now much more comfortable handling a firearm myself. Thanks again, it was a great class! ”
“In both my professional career and personal training experiences, I have been exposed to a vast array of different training methodologies by various instructors. In some of the courses I’ve attended, I’ve observed instructors who I’d regard as “philosophers.” Meaning they simply regurgitated information that they acquired from past generations of competitive shooters and tacticians. They fed off of old information and never validated any of these skills in a real world setting. These instructors would not provide explanation for the skills they were trying to instill in their students because they did not have the personal understanding of how these skills translate to any real world applications. Other instructors I recognized were merely “performers”, who utilize the gimmicks of speed in their ability to perform the skills of shooting and reloads at stationary targets in a robotic fashion. They can perform a drill exceptionally well and look flashy in their movements, but again they have no real understanding of what it is to be a practical tactician nor do they recognize the consequences of mindlessly pressing a trigger at a predetermined non-reactive paper or steel target. Andy Sutcliffe is not one of these instructors who are “philosophers” or “performers”but rather he is a “practitioner” in the art of gunfighting. The experience and knowledge acquired over a long career working in law enforcement, is well reflected in the assessments made and feedback provided by this great instructor who is a true tactician. Andy does not use the tactical jargons which are overly used in other training classes, especially when he is teaching new students as they become indoctrinated into the world of shooting. From the new to the experienced shooter, there is much that one can learn from Andy Sutcliffe. I regard him as one my greatest mentors. For anyone looking at improving their skills to be an online internet sensation, this is not the course for you. However, to the person looking at becoming better equipped to defend life, you can rest assured Andy’s instructions will leave you with greater confidence and peace of mind.”
““There are many instructors in the shooting community. Thousands. Each have a unique perspective on how they will instruct a person who walks onto their range. What makes Andy Sutcliffe stand out from the rest is that he is a teacher. A teacher who does not treat a student like an automaton with classical conditioning. He has a vested interest in a students’ survival drawing from a well of experience, tactics, and knowledge that will ensure that when a student leaves his class, they have a metacognition about the curriculum and how to apply those factors in real time. Here are just some of the reasons why a perspective student should seek integral learning from Trigger Press Training. He is a dimensional teacher. His non-binary method of problem solving while staying calm is paramount to his approach in his pathology which translates to his stress-free environment created in the first five minutes of his class brief. As a multi-faceted teacher, he can easily determine a persons’ skill level and adjust accordingly while keeping the pace of the class linear and on task with whatever drill/exercise is being presented. No one gets left behind. As a student himself, he also mentioned that he plans on furthering his education, in the industry, by taking other classes with correlating schools. Thus, gathering further knowledge which will in no doubt, be passed down to future students of Trigger Press Training. He has been around the block. With over 20 plus years of public service by means of law enforcement, Andy has probably been in high stress situations that most people only see in movies. This means he can answer questions from the simple to the unconventional. If he cannot answer a students’ question, he is not afraid to say he does not know. This further indicates he does not an inflated perception and that he, too can be surprised, making a student become relaxed around him while keeping a command presence without consternation. His fee is shockingly affordable. Other schools will charge more with almost the exact rubric that Andy has at Trigger Press Training. With the steady incline of prices on ammunition and firearms in California, a person can be easily be discouraged in pursuing further knowledge in the endeavor. Trigger Press Training is a refreshing salve to those who want to train with a high value module and an authentic teacher without the severe price. Tactics are constantly changing but our principals never do. As a person who has been through many classes in his lifetime, it is extremely rare to find value enhanced by experience. Wyatt Earp once said. “the winner…is usually was the one who took his time” and Andy said it best when he stated, “If you can get 20% out of this class when we’re done, then that’s alright by me”. But as a student of Trigger Press Training, the feeling of completion is superseded by the satisfaction that a person is better that they were yesterday. There are few guarantees in our lives but in this case a student is guaranteed to take another class with Andy.””
“I highly recommend Andy Sutcliffe’s TriggerPress Firearms Training. While I’m a novice with firearms, as a doctor of clinical psychology I’ve had a lot of experience with teachers and professors—both good and bad—over the course of my professional development. I’ve taken two classes, beginning and intermediate, from Mr. Sutcliffe. So, I have a pretty good sense of him by now. The best metaphor I can think of which characterizes his approach and demeanor is that of a surgeon— the kind of surgeon you would want if you needed one. He is patient, thoughtful, observant, calm, kind, sincere, alert, energetic, methodical, detail-oriented, and open to questions.Andy emphasizes good habits and solid skill acquisition rather than speed. He pays attention to everything. The lesson is not “practice makes perfect”; the lesson is “perfect practice makes perfect.”I felt very safe and unpressured in his classes; as a beginner this has been essential so I can focus on learning. At the same time, I have seen how helpful he is to advanced students, as well. You can tell he enjoys teaching at all levels.Mr. Sutcliffe has an impressive resume in law enforcement and training that commands respect; I am grateful he is available to learn from through these classes. I will be coming back for more.”
“This is perfect for you Andy. Your training was always second to none. It was you that helped us all keep the right mindset and help us stay alive if, god forbid, we were ever in a fight for our lives. I for one, will never forget the training you provided for me and others in our department. ”
“I’ve taken various beginner shooting classes, from different companies and different teachers. Some were good and some were bad. Next in line was taking Andy’s beginner shooting class. After that I now take only his classes. His skill at teaching is better than any other instructors I have had. He stresses safety, safety and safety again. He is calm, patient with you and if he has to, he doesn’t mind showing you numerous times until you understand. He shares his insight into situational circumstances. He is happy to answer any questions you may have. I have referred numerous friends to his classes. I highly recommend.”
“After shooting for years, I didn’t realize how much more I needed to know until I took a training course taught by Andy Sutcliffe. Now having taken several of his courses, I feel more confident in the skills needed for self and home defense. His style of instruction emphasizes safety and skill building without being too military based. Looking forward to the next one!”
“I truly had an awesome time during the class! I learned so much, and I walked away feeling much more confident than ever before!”
“I have learned so much about shooting from Andy’s classes. I never imagined I could do the things he’s taught me. And not only is the information invaluable for safety and home protection, it’s also been a lot of fun! Andy’s style of teaching is calm, yet stern, and he takes care to cover the basics at the beginning of each class for review, even if you’ve taken his classes before. It’s an all-around great experience!”
“My experience with Andy was outstanding! Currently, I am a senior training before entering the United States Naval Academy this summer and I wanted to try out pistol training. It was my first time shooting and dealing with firearms. Andy taught me step by step, beginning with the safety procedures of handling the firearms, going over the nomenclature, and teaching me how to unload and load the pistol. I learned so much during the three hour session and was able to get some great shots in! I am so satisfied and thankful that I had this great experience! I greatly recommend this to those interested in learning! Thank you Andy for your detailed teaching!”
