Frequently Asked Questions

  Frequently Asked Questions

I have never fired a gun before. Should I have some experience before taking your class?

Not at all.  Many TriggerPress students have never fired a gun and, in some cases, have a fear of firearms. The fundamental classes are designed for shooters who want to learn the basics and develop a strong foundation based on safety, competence and confidence.

Can I arrange a private lesson instead of attending a group session?

Yes. Private sessions for individuals and small groups can be arranged by emailing andy@triggerpresstraining.com

Can I sign up my child who is not yet 18?

Minors 15 to 17 may participate in a private session with parent/guardian physically present during the entire class. Variables, including experience and background can be discussed at andy@triggerpresstraining.com

Do you only train at Burro Canyon Shooting Park north of Azusa?

Yes. All training takes place at Burro Canyon.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel your training session at least 48 hours prior to the day and time of your scheduled training, you will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours prior to your scheduled start time will incur a $50.00 charge with the remaining balance refunded. If you cancel within 12 hours of the scheduled start time, to include not showing up on the day of training, you will not be refunded any portion of the tuition. A “no-show” is considered anyone who fails to arrive within the first hour of the scheduled training.

Can I switch to another training class without canceling?

You may request your training be moved to a future scheduled training day with no charge to you.  Accommodating that request is not guaranteed though, as it depends upon same-class space availability.

I have taken several other shooting classes. Can I take the intermediate or advanced class without the fundamental class?

It is possible that your experience and training will allow you to move directly to the intermediate and/or advanced class. Trained law enforcement personnel are encouraged to take the advanced class.  To discuss qualifications, email andy@triggerpresstraining.com.

Do I have to own a handgun to take your class?

ADDITIONAL COST FOR HANDGUN/AMMUNITION: $145.00

Use of TriggerPress ammo (200 rounds) without use of the handgun: $120.00

The additional cost for the use of a handgun, and roughly 200 rounds of ammunition, is $130.00. (COST BASED ON CURRENT AMMUNITION MARKET VALUE) This is only available for Handgun Fundamental/Private Session students, and not Intermediate/Advanced class students.  A limited supply is available, and interested students must email Andy@TriggerPressTraining.com to check availability in advance.  TriggerPress Firearms Training does not sell weapons or ammunition, and any unused TriggerPress ammunition may not be removed from the range by attending students.

TriggerPress has a limited supply of handguns and ammunition available for use upon request in 9mm, 45, 40 and 380 calibers.

Ammo update as of January 2022: Due to the current supply and demand issue affecting ammunition sales across the country, TriggerPress has only a limited supply available for students. If you do not have ammunition, email andy@TriggerPressTrainng.com to check on availability and cost.

I have a gun, but no holster. Do I need one?

You do not need a holster for the fundamental class but do need a holster (and preferably magazine carriers) for the intermediate and advanced classes.

Can I attend training with an inside the waistband concealed holster as opposed to an exposed hip carry holster?

Inside the waist band concealed holsters are allowed for the advanced classes but not for the fundamental and intermediate classes. Shoulder worn holsters are not allowed for any of the classes.

Do these classes certify me to carry a concealed firearm?

This is not a CCW course. TriggerPress classes are designed to provide handgun handling skills for all levels of shooters.

Do you have classes for revolver shooters?

Revolver classes are separate from semi-auto classes. Requests for revolver classes can be made through andy@triggerpresstraining.com
